We're pleased to announce the release of 1.4 of BitcoinTaxes that includes several new features moving us forward in supporting multiple tax years and multiple currencies.
AUD and CAD Currency Support
In addition to USD, GBP and EUR we have added AUD and CAD so you can view trades in you native currency rather than just USD. We use oanda.com to get the daily exchange rates.
Show Calculations in Home Currency
If you set the "Home Currency" within the Account page, all calculated capital gains are then converted and displayed in that currency. So if you are in Australia, for example, you can set AUD and see all your capital gains and asset sales in AUD ready for your tax returns.
Previous Tax Years (2010-2012)
Support for adding trades and calculating capital gains for previous tax years, 2010, 2011 and 2012. You can easily switch between each year to add your trades or view your gains.
In the future each new tax year will be charged separately, however, the 2010-2012 years are bundled together for one upgrade price of $9.95 from any Premium account.
Lock Taxyear Calculations
A "lock" button on the Calculations page can be used to prevent any changes to any taxyear's data and also copies closing positions into the following year. This is not permanent so you can always Unlock it again later if you need to go back and make changes.
TaxACT® Export (Premium only)
Along with the standard CSV download for Sales of Assets data, it can now also be downloaded in a format ready to be imported straight into TaxACT. Please be aware that TaxACT has a limit of 2,000 trades that can be imported. Beyond that requires special handling as per the instructions on their website. There is also a bug within TaxACT where their Stock CSV import does not work properly in Firefox, so if you received an error The file you selected does not appear to be a simple comma separated text file, try a different browser.
TXF (Taxes Exchange Format) Export for TurboTax® (Premium only)
There is also a new export for TXF to import into TurboTax. However, please be aware that TurboTax only imports capital gains into their desktop version and not the online version. Also, their import is limited to only 500 trades.
Bitfloor
Support added for Bitfloor.com. Whilst no longer operational, the data is still relevant for calculating last year's taxes and can be imported by their CSV download.
Reordered Tabs
"Trades" and "Opening Positions" tabs have been switched as it was confusing for new users.
